Jefferson Airplane,Fillmore Auditorium (Mime Troupe Appeal II) *Near Mint 89*

$8,575.00

We are offering a truly scarce and historic document from 1965. The greatest Rock and Roll promoter of all time, Bill Graham, got his start in San Francisco as the Manager of the San Francisco Mime Troupe. When the director of the Troupe, R.G. Davis, was arrested for performing in the Parks without a permit, Graham held a series of benefits to raise money for his defense.

These benefits proved to be the genesis of Grahams work as a promoter, the appeals featured local Bay area bands and were highly successful. This is part of what led Graham to start hosting shows at the Fillmore Auditorium. This piece promotes the second installment of the “Mime Troupe Appeal” series and marks the first held at the historic venue. Additionally, although not noted on the bill, this is the first time that Jerry Garcia and co. played as the Grateful Dead.
