Grateful Dead, Troupers Club (Los Angeles Acid Test) *Mint Condition*

This poster is the only known concert poster that was created by the legendary Owsley "Bear" Stanley  . The  historical significance of this piece  cant be overstated. The poster was created to advertise a March, 1966 Grateful Dead concert s held in Los Angeles in 1966. This amazing, historic poster is a the best of three known copies in existence, and it’s SIGNED BY OWSLEY !

Augustus  Owsley StanleyIII, was a true innovator and iconoclast. He will most notably be remembered for his role in the manufacture and distribution  of LSD in San Francisco the 1960's. However,  Owsley's contributed far more than just Acid to the Haight -Ashbury community.  He was the one true renaissance man of the Psychedelic Era.

Owsley’s early association with the Grateful Dead allowed him to take on several roles with the band. He was their first sound-man, and helped finance the Dead early on. Additionally, he was responsible for recording many early Dead shows, as well as other acts that performed in San Francisco at the time. Owsley was responsible for designing the Dead’s behemoth, yet technically advanced sound system,” The Wall of Sound”.

In addition to these accomplishments accomplishments, Bear also considered himself  to be an artist  and a sculptor. As an artist he will always be remembered for  designing the Dead’s iconic “Steal Your Face” Logo.  Who ever acquires this astounding rarity will instantly be recognized as one of the most important collectors of this genre.

Also on the bill was Del Close who is regarded as the father of  improvisation theater and comedy, he was the force behind Second City and was a huge influence on Second City and Saturday Night Live.
